AMA and K-POP – How K-POP is being represented at the American Music Awards

The AMA (American Music Awards) took place in Las Vegas on May 25th, and American artists were not the only ones receiving awards. Many K-POP artists were also nominated for awards on the night, including one group taking home some big wins.
BTS

BTS attended and performed at the AMA's, performing their track Hooligan from their most recent album, Arirang, which has dominated charts across the globe. The group didn't come home empty handed, as they won:
- Artist of the Year
- Best Male K-Pop Artist
- Song of the Summer for "Swim"
This is the group's first attendance at the AMA's since their comeback and their reunion after each member completed their military service. Many viewers and critics have highlighted the group as one of standouts from the night.
KATSEYE

KATSEYE were also in attendance, one of the first global girl groups by HYBE x Geffen, with HYBE also being BTS' label. The group are a powerhouse in the USA, with their track Gnarly going viral earlier in 2025. Their most recent track, Pinky Up, has also been a huge hit, with hot reactions from the crowd during their performance of this during the night. The group also won New Artist of the Year, further solidifying their place in both the US market and the K-POP space.
EJAE

Singer-songwriter EJAE also won with Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna for their song Golden, from the movie K-POP Demon Hunters. The song won Song of the Year, which is a well-deserved win, as the song has dominated radio spaces and kids playlists across the world.

BTS are not the first K-POP artists to win at the AMA's, with the first being PSY, who won a special New Media Honor award for Gangnam Style. BTS were the next group to win in 2018 and continued to attend and win in the years following.
In terms of wins, BTS are at the top with 15 wins, KATSEYE with 3, and then TWICE and RM with 1.
